Overview

Now more than ever: Aldous Huxley's enduring masterwork must be read and understood by anyone concerned with preserving the human spirit

"A masterpiece. ... One of the most prophetic dystopian works." --Wall Street Journal

Aldous Huxley's profoundly important classic of world literature, Brave New World is a searching vision of an unequal, technologically-advanced future where humans are genetically bred, socially indoctrinated, and pharmaceutically anesthetized to passively uphold an authoritarian ruling order-all at the cost of our freedom, full humanity, and perhaps also our souls. "A genius who] who spent his life decrying the onward march of the Machine" (The New Yorker), Huxley was a man of incomparable talents: equally an artist, a spiritual seeker, and one of history's keenest observers of human nature and civilization. Brave New World, his masterpiece, has enthralled and terrified millions of readers, and retains its urgent relevance to this day as both a warning to be heeded as we head into tomorrow and as thought-provoking, satisfying work of literature. Written in the shadow of the rise of fascism during the 1930s, Brave New World likewise speaks to a 21st-century world dominated by mass-entertainment, technology, medicine and pharmaceuticals, the arts of persuasion, and the hidden influence of elites.

  • Did NOT Like It

Huxley's view of the future was so far off and folks definitely need to stop comparing it to 1984. It seems that Huxley has some immature fascination with sex which comes across very awkwardly in the telling of this story.

A must read for all. Do not say an all controlling dystopian future using genetic engineering is impossible. Instead, read this book and ask what we must do to insure that this possibility does not come to fruition.

  • Huxley's Vision is Frightening, Yet Captivating

I am a huge dystopian fan and this one was a little confusing to jump into, but once you are emerged in the setting that Huxley is describing, it is hard to escape. Using a Shakespeare line for the title is so creative and the writing is fantastic. This book is pure genius. #SpringPicks

Good book that mirrors the current climate of cancel culture of 2021! For all the woke people out there be careful what your wishing for!! Very provocative for its time and way ahead in predicting the future!

I saw the mini-series and thought it was amazing. I thought I’d read the book. Considering this book was written in the 1930’s, it’s very futuristic and scarily applicable to present society. I highly recommend both the book and the mini-series.
