With her characteristic wit and dazzling drawings, celebrated graphic novelist P n lope Bagieu profiles the lives of these feisty female role models, some world famous, some little known. In the last few years, there have been many books which have collected true stories of women rebelling, inventing, writing, singing, or otherwise breaking the traditionally feminine mold of their times in some way. Brazen is another such collection, but it is one of my favorites. Bagieu does not attempt to create a conclusive list of amazing women. Instead she offers a sampling of stories from different countries and eras that is an excellent introduction for girls and young women longing to see more heroes for themselves in their history books.
