I consider this book to be a classic. I remember reading it as a young girl and I always watch the movie. It is the story of a young farm girl who rescues a piglet that was the runt of the litter. Once Wilbur gets big enough, the other animals tell him that he will be slaughtered. As Wilbur is freaking out a spider named Charlotte says that she will help make Wilbur too important to be butchered. She then proceeds to spin flattering words in her webs. To me this book always represented friendship and caring especially between different people/critters. #BannedBook
This is a story about friendships and life and death. Still an easy read and well written. The illustrations are wonderful too. Banned in Kansas in 2006 because “talking animals are blasphemous and unnatural.” #BannedBook
My dad cried when he read this to me, I cried when I read it on my own, and my son cried when he read it. Beautiful work about humanity and the humanity present in the animal world. It also explores humanizing our animal friends, changing minds, and losing those we love. Big ideas for young minds, and a beloved book for multiple generations. Apparently banned because talking animals are "unnatural." I don't know about that, but I can understand our pets, and I definitely talk to them. I imagine other animals lovers will understand. #BannedBook
Charlotte's Web is an amazing book that covers a wide range of emotions and issues through the eyes of the animals who can talk to one another. The main characters, Fern & Wilbur (the pig) have a fun relationship that make children fall in love with the story. #BannedBooks
I love this book-- a very charming, enlightening tale. I love both Charlotte and Wilbur, and their relationship.
