If you have ever looked into the night sky and thought, "Who are we? What are we? Where did all of this come from?", then you need to read Cosmos by Carl Sagan. A professor of astronomy at Cornell University, Sagan had a passion for the Universe that radiates from each page of his most famous work. His prose style of storytelling keeps you enthralled as he tells us the tales of the great scientists of the past and how each of them played a pivotal role in the history of our species and our understanding of the Cosmos. He explains that each and every one of us is a scientist, curious about the world around us. "We are made of Starstuff. We are a way for the Universe to know itself." Incidentally, I have the "Starstuff" line tattooed on my chest. That may tell you the crucial role that this book has played in my life. I promise you, if you read this book, you will never look at the world the same way again. Even a droplet of water becomes an entire Universe, awash with infinite complexity and drama all its own. From the first line to the last, this book will inspire you to always keep looking up.
