Look for E L James's passionate new love story, The Mister, available now.

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana's quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too--but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success--his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family--Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey's secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

  • Okay, hear me out

Okay, so before you start judging me, hear me out. Myself and three other coworkers started reading this for a "joke" for our new founded book club. Two of the four of us didn't like it very much. But for myself and another, we loved it and actually are going to read the rest of the books LOL. What I will say is that Anastasia's character is flat as cardboard. But many of the other characters have much more depth to them. As I haven't finished the series yet, I can't speak much to the development of Christian Grey YET. But so far, not too shabby sir. One thing that is not so great is the repetition. Anastasia is constantly biting her lip, blushing one of three different shades of red (including one being referenced as the color of the Communist Manifesto). She is also always talking about her "inner goddess" which is VERY redundant and I could do without. I would like to know how many times that phrase is repeated. Other than that, I don't know why, but I LOVE the book.
