  • Great story

    DEBORA P. - 5 years 6 months ago

I love the story. A controversial time in history, but a compelling story of a young girl struggling with changes to her world. A strong character, great story, a chaotic time in history. #bannedbook

  • There is so much more to this book than controversy

    Kealey R. - 5 years 6 months ago

#BannedBooks While I know it is not politically correct to like this book or movie, I have loved this story since before the controversy began. While not discounting the seriousness of slavery, this review is from the perspective of storytelling. It is the struggle of a teenage girl, becoming a woman while her nieve picture of the only world she knows is crumbling around her and those she loves. Some of the things Scarlet O'Hara does seem reprehensible but in her nieve mind they make perfect sense and she even recognizes at times that what is doing is wrong, but sees no other way. This is a book about the love of family, even if we do not agree with the setting the storytelling in this book is amazing.

  • One of The Greatest Stories Ever Written

    Pickup C. - 5 years 6 months ago

One of the greatest stories ever written, and the winner of a Pulitzer prize. It's come under fire recently, but it's a colorful, accurate depiction of life for many during the Civil War, and Magaret Mitchell has created some of the most wonderfully complex characters in all of literature. #bannedbook

  • You become a part of the people in the story and realize how hard it is for some people to accept change. But change is a part of life.

    Coral L. - 5 years 9 months ago

This is an excellent book. So much better than the movie. I love the characters and how they change because their world is changing. There was really nothing that I disliked.

  • Read the Book and Watch the Movie

    Yudit K. - 5 years 9 months ago

Many people have seen the movie, not many people have read the book. Yes, I am a big fan of the movie and I truly believe that the movie is one of the best adaptations of a book ever made (from the perfect sets/costumes, plot similarity, and casting!) If you are a fan of the movie, then it's definitely worth sitting down and reading the book (despite how large it is). The book allows for much more detail and development and there are some plots and characters present in the book that are not present in the movie. These extra characters and plots allow us an even deeper understanding of the characters we already know and love. Margaret Mitchell brings to life much of the Civil War history as well and is able to immerse us into 1200 pages of an epic novel. #summerreading
