Overview

The classic collaboration from the internationally bestselling authors Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, soon to be an original series starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant.

"Good Omens . . . is something like what would have happened if Thomas Pynchon, Tom Robbins and Don DeLillo had collaborated. Lots of literary inventiveness in the plotting and chunks of very good writing and characterization. It's a wow. It would make one hell of a movie. Or a heavenly one. Take your pick."--Washington Post

According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner.

So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon--both of whom have lived amongst Earth's mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle--are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture.

And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist . . .

  • Good is evil, evil is good?

    Paige H. - 3 years 3 months ago

This novel puts together the two geniuses of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett into a witty satire of the end of the world. Taking the serious subject of religion and the apocalypse, the well-developed characters, and hilarious banter, create a humor not often seen. While there are many laugh out loud moments, there are interwoven questions about faith and humanity. As evil is supposed to do evil, and good must do good, stereotypes are consistently flip-flopped. I highly recommend this novel!

  • Armageddon at it's finest with plenty of British humor

    Silviya A. - 4 years 11 months ago

The Apocalypse is supposed to be a precise event, but then again in our world, everything can go wrong. When the schedule for Armageddon and all the things that are supposed to take place to set it up goes terribly wrong, sit back and enjoy both Heaven and Hell desperately trying to fix it. This comic and existential novel about the last days on Earth, filled with familiar and hilarious character as well as complicated and serious ones will make you sweat (within reason) the final battle between Good and Evil until the very last page. p.s. The depiction of the Four Horsemen as they might appear in modern times is spot on and simply brilliant...

  • Its good but not for everyone

    hailey s. - 4 years 11 months ago

Out of the books I own this is one of the few I cant see myself parting with. Its not for everyone but its a enjoyable read. I haven't read it in a bit because of school but the humor still sticks out in my mind. Id probably like this more maybe if I remembered what the source materiel was based on better but I had only seen that once more than 10 years ago. #SpringPicks

  • A Soft Apocalypse

    Pickup C. - 4 years 11 months ago

Neil Gaiman is my favorite author and this is one of his best works! He and Pratchett work seamlessly together to tell and apocalyptic tale unlike any other I've seen. The humor is great, the character interactions are fantastic and this is always one of the first books I recommend when people start reading Gaiman as it has something for everyone! #SpringPicks

  • Didn’t live up to the hype

    Allison E. - 5 years ago

I heard a lot of hype and great reviews of this book, and it just did not live up to my expectations. Also a show on Hulu which was fun to watch after reading. #SpringPicks
