  • Revenge horror at its best

    Erica P. - 1 year 4 months ago

What would you do if you were given the devil's powers? Ignatius Perrish has the opportunity to find out in Joe Hill's 'Horns.' A supernatural revenge story with plenty of disturbing twists, the author has proven himself as capable a horror author as his father, Stephen King. If only he hadn't also inherited his father's inability to write a well rounded ending. With that being it's only flaw though, I would highly recommend any horror fan give it a try.

  • The Book that Made Me Want ALL OF THE BOOKS.

    Berkleigh M. - 4 years 8 months ago

Joe Hill may be the son of author Stephen King, but Horns proves that he has a voice all his own. His debut novel was the first book I read by Hill, but it drove me to immediately consume everything he's written. His character development is excellent, and I love how the protagonist Ig is still a very flawed human being (of sorts). The book begins with Ig waking up in the most unusual of circumstances, and shifts between describing what brought him to this point and where his discovery takes him. Without giving any spoilers, I can say that the villain is truly despicable in the book, much more so than in the highly-abridged movie. Overall, this is a page-turner that expertly blends elements of mystery, dark fantasy and horror - and you can find it in the Horror section.

  • Horns - It’s a devilish good ride!

    Courtney D. - 5 years 10 months ago

#SummerReading Joe Hill is Stephen Kings son and I love his style. I have read several of his books and they have all been phenomenal. Horns was absolutely devilish and also a love story that showed love has no bounds and the extraordinary link that binds two people. Hill has a playful intent on evoking pop-culture visions of evil-pay close attention when reading his work. In Horns, his girlfriends name is Merrin and her sister is Regan, both names borrowed from The Exorcist. This book is a wild ride and is so worth the read.

  • Devilishly twisted, delightfully strange.

    Lisa S. - 8 years 2 months ago

If you read the description of this book, whatever you're expecting, that's not what Horns is. This book is strange, delightfully so, and runs gleefully through the horror genre in a blue dress and a strategically placed sock. That's almost a spoiler. I can't say it enough; this book is odd. And the devil word playswow. It got me a few times, because you shouldn't be able to work that much humor into such a horrifying transformation. It's playful with an incredibly dark revenge plot and left me giggling at the horrible confessions its characters were compelled to make. I actually wanted more of the awkward interactions between the bedeviled protagonist and the small town folk around him. It was so wonderfully twisted. I enjoyed this book so much that I'll be looking for other works from this author, and I hope they are just as bizarre as this one.
