  • The story of the last man

    John P. - 6 months ago

With all the supernatural titles we have today, one still sticks out as a base for many of them. We follow a man desperate for his everyday life to revert back to the days of old. Here is Robert Neville, the last man on Earth, struggling to survive against blood-thirsty monsters that used to be just as sane as he. At least as sane as he was. The human character development in the book is singled on one individual and shows the strength of Robert and his attempts to continue. I Am Legend is interesting, to say the least.

  • Not just better than the movie, but different in all the right ways ...

    Sam M. - 4 years 11 months ago

If the Will Smith movie led you here, prepare yourself. Our hero isn't some brilliant geneticist & super soldier - he is a normal guy who, through a combination of ingenuity and luck, may literally be the last person alive on the planet. No communications system or internet, no weapons stockpile, no basement laboratory - this story was written 3 years before DNA was even discovered. Our main character is resourceful, tough, doing the best he can - and also bitter, reckless, and in serious danger of losing his mind. This is a horror story where you feel not just the fear of dying, but also the dread of surviving. Even though it's vampires who have overrun the world, it's safe to say that the entire zombie apocalypse subgenre wouldn't exist without this book. The last 3rd in particular varies wildly from the movie and is much much stronger - the last scene has ripple effects leading all the way back through the story and continues to take on new meaning 70-some years after first being published. Simply put, it is legend. #springpicks

  • A GREAT READ!!!

I truly love this book! Much better than the movie (obviously), and really goes into the science behind the infections and what it does to humans. One of my top three favorite books!
