I love Lucy. No, I really love Lucy. When I saw that the Ordinary People Change the World juvenile biography series by Brad Meltzer was publishing a Lucille Ball title I could hardly contain my joy. I have a four-year-old that is inquisitive and I wanted to introduce her to biography in a fun way. We had a winner. The illustrations are fun, bright and engaging while telling the story of Lucille Ball's journey to becoming America's favorite redhead. One of the many things that I enjoyed about this book was the tone of persistence in the face of adversity that was stressed in her story. Lucille Ball was different and was told 'no' a lot of times. In spite of other people not believing in her dreams, she continued to believe in herself. Hard work and self-confidence are the cornerstones of this ordinary person's life story and well worth sharing. The book also lists additional books and information for kids to dig deeper and learn more. This series is great!
