Written by screenwriter and producer Terry Hayes, who's credited for his work on the novelization of Mad Max, and helping George Miller with the Mad Max 2 script, Hayes takes you on a very intriguing journey with a character that is as fascinating as James Bond, or Jason Bourne. This story is about a former intelligence agent who is reliving his past work through a killer that uses a forensic pathology book that the main character created. The murderer leaves no trace of evidence for our antagonist to follow up on, but that won't stop our hero. Being the very first spy thriller I have ever read, I found this book to be very entertaining and wonderfully written. It makes you feel like this type of scenario could really happen. There may be too many subplots that could distract some readers, but the way it all comes together at the end and throughout the book tells a story of a determined agent trying to save the world at any cost. Soon to become a series of movies by Matthew Vaughn, set to be released in 2017. Keep a look out for I Am Pilgrim.
HPB Staff ReviewAn absolutely engrossing, fast-moving thriller. It features a retired CIA agent who is drawn into a case when a terrorist is found to have a terrible weapon. There are several different storylines going on at once, but all were fascinating. At 600 pages, it is a bit long, but for me, it never lagged. This is an author to watch out for.
HPB Staff ReviewThis is a great book. Part spy thriller, part murder mystery and part anti-terrorist action adventure.
Outstanding book. Nice complex mystery with a lot of intrigue! In the vein of Jack Ryan... Mystery, suspense, thriller, mystery! Would definitely recommend! #summerreading
