I wish I had better words to describe how much I love Inkheart. It surpasses my love of Harry Potter, and that's really difficult to do. Originally published in Germany as Tintenhertz, Anthea Bell manages to spin a translation of Cornelia Funke's work that loses so little of the poetic writing which elegantly captures the ever-curious Meggie, her father the bookbinder, and the three characters from a fictional land he accidentally brought here. If you like tales of imagination and magical adventure, and even more-so if you love books, you will not be disappointed in Inkheart. It will give you a completely new meaning to what it means to escape into a book. Don't be surprised if you find yourself wanting to read it over again out-loud.
HPB Staff ReviewWho wouldn't love to become a character in their favorite book? But have you ever considered that maybe that book isn't everything you've imagined? Inkheart gives you an idea of what could happen if you could read your favorite characters out of your favorite books... and the chaos that could ensue. Perfect for every booklover. #SummerReading
I absolutely judged this book by its cover, and it rendered GREAT results! Cornelia Funke does an exceptional job with world-building and characterization. I truly felt the internal struggles of Dustfinger, Meggie, and Mo. i loved the gifts each possessed that took you on a fantastical adventure. If you like a story to leap off the page, look no further than Inkheart. It is my second favourite book! This book is translated from German, but I have to say that it read flawlessly. I have read translated books before and stumbled through them, but this story is beautifully flowing and you have great ease in reading it and entering the world. #SummerReading
