  • Explains historical, spiritual, and festive aspects of the holidays.

    Genevieve P. - 2 years 9 months ago

I've made my way through Michael Strassfeld's The Jewish Holidays with my rabbi, finding the book accessible and an easy read. For those converting, like me, doing research, or need a refresher about a holiday, Strassfeld's chapters are broken down into parts that explain historical, spiritual, and festive aspects of the holidays framed by wonderful illustrations of holiday themes. Along with Strassfeld's writing along the margins are the writings of rabbis and professors who also have creative input on spiritual aspects as well as ideas for fully celebrating the holidays. Strassfeld also includes a robust resource list and appendixes of Hebrew prayers.
