I bought this for a Grand Niece for her birthday. It is one of my favorite-of-all-times books! I even saw the film when it came out back in the 70’s. It was her mom’s idea to ask family and friends to send a favorite book to her, and I picked this one. Bless you, Richard Bach!
#SummerReading "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach is a fascinating short story about a seagull's interesting adventures that serves as an interesting mask for the author's thoughts on things like living a fulfilling life, materialism, and learning from a trusted teacher. A book quite unlike any other that I have read before, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is an engrossing little commentary that will leave the reader delighted, entertained, and maybe even a little bit more aware and enlightened.
"Jonathan Livingston Seagull" has taught me so many important lessons on self motivation, values/morals, and what "perfection" truly means. It may be a short read, but each page is incredibly impactful. The story follows Jonathan, a seagull, who (through self determination and connections with mentors) learns what it means to fly with freedom and what he deems "perfection." Richard Bach has given us a placeholder - Jonathan feels that flying is his whole reason for being. So, he decides to find freedom and potential in what his reasons or being is. Jonathan and Bach are telling us that we have a reason for being, and if we give ourselves to that reason, we can find freedom and perfection for ourselves. Jonathan's journey is moving and inspiring. "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is much more than a fable. #SummerReading
