This is a limited run written by Tom King with art by the amazing Mitch Gerards. Mister Miracle (also known as Scott Free) can escape anything but the past he never really deals with and the premise of this book is about the question of reality and how you live after experiencing a great deal of trauma in your life. It's one thing to survive but then how do you live? This is a book that is serious and has a lot of thoughtful ideas on the nature of reality for the characters involved. But the over saturated colors bring this out of what would be a very grim and dark narrative and give us the art Mister Miracle deserves, never shying away from the Kirby design and color palette. I think this adds to the overall quality of the book. And the idea that we never fully escape our past but that it contributes to our present is explored in the excellent comic book setting. I think Tom King is at his best when paired with excellent artists and colorists who help his narrative by not keeping things too dark. This is a great read that I was excited to see every month. Definitely find this when its out and read it, several times. Because it is awesome.
