My daughter had to read it for school, and wasn’t a big fan of it. We are happy that Half Price Books came through with a good price!

  • Great Introduction to Hercule Poirot

This book is a great introduction book to Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot character. Twists and turns in the case every which way but still is engaging to follow along with. #summerreading

  • A Popular Murder Mystery that both Challenges and Plays on Expectations in the Genre

    brandon h. - 5 years 10 months ago

Agatha Christie's 'Murder on the Orient Express' is a classic mystery novel within the Hercule Poirot series that mystery readers, new or experienced, can fully enjoy! At the time, I had read a good collection of mystery novels, but never got a chance to jump into any of the Hercule Poirot book series. Hearing 'Orient Express' as arguably the best novel in the series, I had high hopes, but found that all expectations were heavily surpassed! The characters are numerous, but all have a purpose in the mystery surrounding the murder due to the setting, which allows the progressing story to be focused and tight while also providing a tense environmental circumstance. As well as that, the resolving truth in the circumstances surrounding the mystery is no doubt my favorite reveal I've seen, not just because it is original, but because it manages to do so in a way that makes me question why I had never considered it before in any murder mystery tale! So if you'd like to read a new mystery novel that can surprise you or are looking to enter into the genre in general, 'Murder on the Orient Express' is a great starting point and a worthwhile reread even after reading other stories from the Poirot series!
