The scientific theory that dinosaurs were wiped out by the cataclysmic impact of a meteorite is fairly recent having been proposed within the last 30 or so years. It's actually two theories -- that there was a cataclysmic meteorite strike and that it caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. This book explains the controversy that originally surrounded the theories and the science behind the eventual acceptance of the theories. It's a well-written and captivating account for the lay person that takes us through the testing stages and provides a wealth of knowledge about our planet's geology and history.
