They're all part of this shaggy-dog action thriller. After her boyfriend gets mixed up in an identity theft scheme gone very wrong due to the interference of some Chinese hacker trolls, Zula finds herself caught up in a maze of subterfuge, deceit and international terrorism. The story bounces from continent to continent and plot thread to plot thread, all linked together by the various characters' exploits in the digital fantasy land of T'Rain. Neal Stephenson's attention to detail is on full display, lending just as much care to the workings of a fictional online economy as he does to the nuts and bolts of a take-no-prisoners machine gun fight.
