  • Zombie gore with heart.

    Christopher R. - 11 months ago

I am a zombie nut. I fell in love with the mythos as a child. Having said that, I have read the majority of zombooks out there. This series is a bit different. Rot and Ruin is the name given to Northern California after the zombie outbreak, known in this book as First Night. It is a barren land, mostly left to the zoms. Small fortified towns have begun to pop up. Bounty hunters rule the land between the towns. Benny and Tom are the brothers. They are also Silencers, paid to humanely silence loved ones who have turned. There is a rift between the two brother because Benny blames Tom for his parents being turned. The brothers must put the past behind them as they battle an evil Bounty Hunter in the Rot and Ruin. I liked the first book in the series because it portrays the turned not as a mindless set of jaws, but as a person. They have names, relatives, people who loved them. The brothers are told the histories of the zoms they hunt. They are given pictures, gifts for the turned, and are often asked to read letters from the family to the afflicted. This series gives heart to the zombie gore.
