This book was 100% amazing, I couldn't put it down and it was full of adventure, suspenseful and it kept me on the edge of my set. It was entirely entertaining such a twisting of survive story and it kept me intrigued and want to keep going. So much so I had to go out and get the second one as fast as I could.

  • A New Wave of Young Adult Fantasy

    Jessica I. - 6 years 4 months ago

Following the always popular young adult trend of dystopian and post-apocalyptic fantasy, Rick Yancey offers a fresh take with The 5th Wave. When technology has been eradicated and the world is under attack from foreign invaders, Cassie is determined to track down her baby brother while trying to evade the all too human invaders. While the story is a bit of a slow burn, it builds into a suspenseful plot of colliding story lines that are full of well crafted characters and alternating points of view. The characters may have been a bit one dimensional and unappealing in the beginning but the characters grew and developed along with the plot. Yancey mirrors the success of The Hunger Games by following ordinary individuals who are willing to go to great lengths to save the ones they love the most. The story was exciting and unique, full of twists that leave you wondering who the real enemy is. Yancey followed the success of The 5th Wave with 2014's The Infinite Sea and Sony pictures is set to release a film adaptation in early 2016.
