I heard a radio interview of Sherman Alexie not long ago, and it piqued my interest. So, I ran across a copy and decided to give it a go. It does not disappoint. The characters are rich and complex, the emotions of 14-year-old "Junior," an Indian boy who transitions to a white school are skillfully navigated in the dialogue.
HPB Staff ReviewI saw this book on our banned book display and was curious why a young adult book would be banned. I immediately fell onto "The Rez" with him, felt the hardship, the poverty and the sadness he had thrust upon his existence. This book moved me and made me laugh, and it should be embraced by all ages.
