Although I didn't read this book for the first time until well into my adulthood, it has made me cry every single time I open it, but only for the best of reasons. It begins with Mr. Morris Lessmore needing to find a new home, and he finds an abandoned library with magical books that become his best friends. It is whimsical and heartwarming, even as Mr. Morris Lessmore grows old and his friends do not. When it is time for him to say goodbye, the books are sad, but a little girl who is in need of friends shows up just in time to take his place. I cannot possibly do this book justice in a review, but it is truly one of the best picture books I have ever read.
