A friend gave me this book last week. I have not read anything by this author. I did not read her Twilight series as I am not a fan of vampire stories and was not sure that this book would be my cup of tea. I loved it! I could not put it down. The plot was so creative and the characters so vivid and alive. Word is that there will be two more books in this series, but that does not seem to have happened. This was a captivating book. #SpringPicks
I really enjoyed it. It's one of my favorite books ever. I really could jump into the book and feel like I was in it!
After reading the Twilight Series I did not think that I could really get into this book! I was shocked. My heart was racing. This is definitely a book to read! This book is so descriptive I could just imagine what everything and everyone looked like!
I loved The Host because of the thrill and romance but mainly because of the romance. I found it very interesting to see how the souls lived. Including how no money was involved and people were so kind. One thing that I find unbelievable is how most of them loved everyone the same-I could never. #SummerReading
I know many people will hesitate to read this book because of the author. However, I am here to tell you that you should definitely give it a chance. While I have never read the Twilight series (and don’t exactly plan to), I have heard many people talk about them. From what I have found, The Host is drastically different. The characters are well developed. The two main characters, specifically, are not portrayed as air-heads, but as intelligent women capable of taking care of themselves. (I have heard from others that some of Meyer’s characters from other books are a bit shallow). The plot is very well thought out, and I absolutely loved the unexpected twists. Not to mention that things became increasingly complex and suspenseful. It was nearly impossible for me to put the book down! This novel really caused me to think a lot about morals, identity, love, and many other challenging aspects. It helped me look at things from a different perspective. The story also contains many good morals. Meyer also did an incredible job of world building, creating a completely believable picture of an alternate society. This book is among my all time favorites, and I would 13/10 recommend! I would especially suggest you read it if you enjoy books with sci-fi, romance, or survival themes. #SummerReading
