This is a book that has stuck with me for years. Since I picked it up back in high school I’m pretty sure I’ve read it almost every year. It’s saved me in ways that I never expected during tough times. I relate to Charlie so much, and hope whoever picks this up does too. #SpringPicks
I was in college when I first read this book, and it really spoke to me. I identified a lot with Charlie, in his shyness and wanting so badly to hold on to these friends because he'd finally found his tribe. And his bookishness, how he connected with his teacher was really touching. So many things that I read and reread because they felt so important, lessons that I could carry inside forever. Really wish someone had given me a copy in high school, it would've helped even more then. It's also one of the few cases where I found the movie to be just as good as the book (probably because it was adapted for the screen BY Chbosky.
This #bannedbook is a great coming of age story, though the subject matter can get really heavy. The movie adaptation is great too!
I first read this novel the summer before my freshmen year of high school. It remains one of the novels that I can and will reread over and over again. It is one of the most honest stories about growing up, about mental illness, about trauma and grief. I recommend this book to every teen still in the process of growing up. I also recommend it to any adult, any person struggling with mental illness and trauma, to any person who loves to read. #BannedBook
This really is one of my favorite books of all time.I would give this book to every teenage boy and girl I knew. Main character Charlie is lovable from the first sentence out of his mouth. There are endless quotable quotes in this book that had me folding the page over so I could write them down later. Charlie has an honest innocence to him yet such an intense depth and intelligent mind that he is quite the multifaceted character. #BannedBook
