Overview

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, comes the highly anticipated and jaw-dropping finale to The Folk of the Air trilogy -- now in paperback

He will be the destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan's betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her twin sister, Taryn, whose life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict's bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity...

  • A wonderful story of politics, romance and deception

Welcome back to the land of faerie! This book is rich and intense with political intrigue. If you love strong willed powerful women you will love Jude, she's just as strong as she was in the first two books! I fell in love with the support characters all over again and I love the mention of characters from her previous series. After becoming high queen and becoming exiled, Jude is forced back into the mortal world and must come to terms that Cardan has once again betrayed her. Her and Cardan's journey is transcendent and heartbreaking. Holly Black takes your heart, rips it apart and puts it together again. If you loved her previous works, you'll be immersed in this. The ending was everything I wanted and more!

there is NO doubt in my mind that this will be one of my top 5 favorite books of 2020. I JUST LOVED IT ALL I LOVED IT!!! all the scheming, all the angst, all the PLOT!!! as someone who THROUGHLY enjoys court politics & having behind the curtain deals, this entire trilogy was incredible to me. JUDE AND CARDAN!!! that’s all that needs to be said. their relationship progressed so well throughout the books and i feel like it’s a TRUE enemies to lovers romance. not to mention how much this ending warmed my heart. I LOVE ENDINGS LIKE THIS ONE!!! i could go on and on about every character in this book but i feel like i don’t have to words to explain how close to my heart they are. i want to be jude’s best friend & talk smack about cardan w her, just for the laughs. & give all the spies a hug and tell oak hes the best & MAYBE A HUG FROM CARDAN? I THINK THAT WOULD BE amazing. i feel like he gives great hugs. GOSH i just loved the story. and now i’m rambling so yeah go read this if you haven’t. 😩πŸ₯Ί #SpringPicks

  • such a fulfilling ending!!

5/5β˜… Cardan. πŸ₯Ί I've loved Cardan since the first books but WOW this book made me love him even more. When he was first introduced Cardan was this cruel, wicked, evil prince that everyone worshiped, but feared. With his upbringing, it was never too shocking that he turned out the way he did, but rather than use that as an excuse, Cardan used it to define himself and his abilities; one of the things that makes him so likable. But in this book?? Omg, you really get to see his whole ARC develop and you see him grow into a rightful and true heir to the throne. He's so incredibly precious and this book did such a great job at showing the true Cardan Greenbriar <3 As for the rest of the book... Not gonna lie, I was really scared because I saw that this book had the fewest amount of pages out of the series, and I had no idea how Holly Black was going to be able to wrap this story up well in so few pages. But I was worried for no reason because this conclusion was PHENOMENAL. I was hooked the entire time and the twists in this book were so good. It's been a while since I felt this way over a book, but it physically pained me to close the book when I was done 😭😭 This is hands down one of the best finales I've ever read (and I've already reread like half the book since I finished the first time). AND THE LETTERS???😭😭😭 JUDE. CARDAN. SUPREMACY. #SpringPicks
