"Great fun for those who enjoy illusion, word play, or sleight of hand." --The New York Times Book Review "A fascinating medley of word games, disguises, multiple aliases, and subterfuges--a demanding but rewarding book." --The Horn Book

I first read this book in elementary school and it was utterly incredible how quickly I disappeared into its depths trying to solve the mystery alongside the colorful cast of unforgettable characters that were almost too absurd to be believable and yet as down to earth as any one of the book's readers. Rediscovering the book years later did nothing to dampen the suspense of the story and I can only hope new readers will fall in love as I did.
HPB Staff ReviewWhile it won the Newbery Medal for children's literature, The Westing Game is a captivating read for all ages. Structured around the inhabitants of a lakeside apartment building hunting down the answer to the puzzle posed by a dead man's will, this book entertains while challenging the reader to solve the mystery before they can.
