    Philip K. Dick has a knack for placing you in a mental state in which you can't be prepared. Ubik is a science fiction novel that takes place in the not-so-distant future, where psychic abilities are used on a corporate level to gain monetary and societal control. A group of individuals, known as anti-psys, work to protect their clients from psychic scrutiny and weakness. During a standard operation, the anti-psys are attacked and gravely inured from an explosion. Upon awakening from the blast, their world begins to unravel, physically and mentally, and they begin to question their existence and purpose. What follows are a series of humorous and terrifying situations that make the reader question their own sanity.
