Whether you're dealing with grief, anger, jealousy, or any other kind of discontent, Pema Chodron can help you make it to the other side. She won't make it easier, but you'll never deal with pain the same way after reading her. I recommend reading one chapter a day until you finish it, and do that again every year. This is the book that taught me how to be. Thanks, Pema!
HPB Staff ReviewSuch a great book, whether you are falling apart or not. Wonderful Pema advice which I boil down to: "When your falling, dive" which is another of her books. Gentle advice that feels like a warm hug and a reminder that we are all, really, going to be OK. Also a great intro to Zen Buddhism and letting go. #RequiredReading #BannedBook
This is a book recommended to me by a friend in a discussion group. It's written by a Buddhist nun and addresses some of the issues we all face. This book is simple, plain language and intensely spiritual; read it slowly. I am Catholic and find this book less judgemental and more refreshing and hopeful than some other religious material I have read. We all have things we can learn from others when it comes to dealing with the pain, fear, sorrow, self hatred, etc. in our life. I sometimes shy away from "self help" books because many are shallow and trendy. If you even have a notion to buy this book. please do it.
The world is always falling apart, sometimes more than others! This book is essential for helping us navigate a broken world by turning inward.
