  • A fantastic start to an epic saga

This book is an amazing beginning to the Sword of Truth series. It can also be read as a standalone novel, but you will be left wanting to know what happens to the fantastic characters that Terry Goodkind created. The fantasy tones are subtle but extremely engaging, making this a perfect introduction to the genre for new fantasy readers.

  • Magic against Magic, Steel against Steel

The Sword of Truth series is a twist and turn science fiction/fantasy about the main character finding himself with the help of friends and family that includes fighting for "Free Will" against Tyranny. The main character is chosen as The Seeker of Truth to fight for the right to live instead of living under the evil Darken Rahl and Emperor Jagang. Overall, Magic against Magic, Steel against Steel, Good verse Evil which will it be in the end? With one more book to read in the series, I am looking forward to finding out which prevails in the end... It has been a "can't put the book down" read and would recommend to others.

  • Epic Fantasy

Storytelling on the level of "Star Wars," only with swords and magic. A tale of love and righteous anger in defense of those who cannot defend themselves. All the elements are here: A hero of humble beginnings, a wise old mentor, a strong female counterpart and a quest to stop an incredibly evil villain. The best part is, if you enjoy it, there are plenty more where it came from.
